St George Hospital Care Packages

Peakhurst Public School students are the latest to show their appreciation to St George Hospital staff for their efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

Students collected enough items to make up 105 large snack bags, which were presented to staff last Thursday.

Each snack bag contained rice packs, cereal, chocolates, confectionary, mints, gum, muesli bars, oat bars, popcorn, chips, pretzels, crackers, dried fruit, cheese and biscuits packs, canned tuna, fruit and jelly cups, noodles, biscuits, instant soup, coffee, tea and other non-perishable food.

A further 30 bags of drinks, including juice and water, were also delivered.

Each bag included a 'thank you' message from students expressing gratitude to hospital staff for their hard work.

The school's student leadership team met with respiratory ward medical officer Dr Robert Cario and acting nurse unit manager Nicholas Littler to talk to them about working during a pandemic.

St George Hospital general manager Paul Darcy said hospital staff were extremely grateful to receive such a generous donation.

"We are very lucky at St George Hospital to have a local community who support our staff, especially during these busy times," he said.

"I'd like to thank the teachers, students and families from Peakhurst Public School for collecting so many snacks and drinks to help keep our energy levels and our spirits high."
