Personal development, health and physical education

Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6.

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

Peakhurst Public School sports program

Beginning with a programme to develop team building and life skills, our sports programme is views as an extension of the classroom where every student can develop not only his/her own personal fitness, but also learn important life lessons of integrity and fair play.

PSSA (Public Schools Sports Association) is available to students from Years 3-6. The sports change from winter to summer and run over 10 weeks. Students are selected for these teams by specialist teachers. For more information, visit PSSA official site or download the following files:

PSSA Sport Update - Term 3 2020

After much discussion, and in consultation with Principals and the Georges River District PSSA committee, the decision has been taken to cancel all PSSA sport for the remainder of 2020. This decision has not been made lightly but has been made with the health and safety of the students, teachers and community in mind and in line with DEC COVID-19 guidelines.

In light of this, the Peakhurst Public School year’s 3-6 sports programme will focus on building skills in PSSA sports.

We appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.
