Learning Support Team
Our Learning Support Team in consultation with teachers and parents helps us identify the students who need support from our Student Learning Support Officers. The team consists of our principal, deputy principal, our executive team, the school counsellor, our Learning assistance Support Teacher and our Reading Recovery teacher. Class teachers refer students who need further assistance and discuss with the team what strategies they have already used. The input from everyone is invaluable when discussing the specific learning and wellbeing needs of students. Student Learning Support Officers support students with learning difficulties in literacy and numeracy in classrooms across K-6. A small number of students are also receiving behaviour support which is often linked to learning disabilities. We also have playground assistance and social skill groups for a small number of students to help them play safely with other students. Groupings are 1-1 and small group depending on the level of support needed for students to access the curriculum successfully. Students who have had learning/wellbeing adjustments for at least 10 weeks are included in the Disability Data Collection for this year.
