Community access and excursions
Community access days and excursions are a very important part of your child’s program as they provide an opportunity for them to learn and generalise appropriate behaviours. Community access gives them the opportunity to practise behaviours they learn at school, enabling them to access public transport, public toilets, picnic facilities, shopping centres, libraries, parks, and leisure facilities. On these occasions, students are expected to be safe and respectful learners.
Some of the different types of community access and excursions include-
Weekly shopping to Riverwood Plaza
Weekly swimming at Menai Swim Academy
Excursions related to key learning areas such as to the Apple shop at Miranda and Oakdale Farm
NSW Sport and Recreation camp
Caroline Chisholm disco
Variety Children’s Christmas Party
Cross country and athletics carnival
School show at Hurstville Entertainment Centre
