Support that fits your child's needs

At Peakhurst Public School, we understand that some students may need extra support to feel confident and achieve their best. We work closely with families to develop personalised support plans and adjustments tailored to each child’s unique needs.

Our additional learning support includes collaborative efforts between teachers, support staff, families, and students when appropriate. We offer specialist programs for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D), alongside tailored programs designed to nurture high potential and gifted learners. Targeted small group tutoring is also available to enhance literacy and numeracy skills.

In classrooms, we create accessible learning environments using assistive technology and specialised instructional resources. Adjustments may involve extra guidance, simplified content, or a different focus during lessons to ensure all students can engage meaningfully. When it comes to assessments, we provide accommodations such as extended time, simplified language, breaks during tasks, or alternative ways to demonstrate learning, like oral presentations instead of written work.

We identify when a student may need support through teacher observations of learning or behaviour changes, assessment results, and when parents or carers raise concerns. All adjustments are made in collaboration with families and are regularly reviewed and updated to meet evolving needs. Some plans may include:

If you feel your child could benefit from additional support, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Together, we can create a supportive learning journey that helps every student thrive at Peakhurst Public School.

Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed.  If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.
